ST ALBANS, UK

St Albans is a cathedral city in Hertfordshire, England located at the east of Hemel Hempstead and west of Hatfield, 20 miles (32 km) north-west of London. St. Albans, which later became the Roman city of Verulamium, was the first significant settlement for travelers traveling north on the ancient Roman Watling Street. It is located in the Greater London Built-up Area and the commuter belt of London.

St Albans‘ numerous historic inns can be attributed to its past as a small rural market town, a Christian pilgrimage place, and the first coaching stop on the route to and from London. Small and lacking in industry, St. Albans was in the Victorian era.

WHAT KIND OF BOILER DO I NEED?

COMBINATION BOILERS IN ST ALBANS

A Combi boiler provides an unlimited, instant hot water supply, in addition to your central heating needs.

Combi boilers are fantastic for smaller properties, such as flats or small houseshomes, where space is at a premium. A combination boiler is very energy efficient and cost-effective as water is only heated when you needit and not heated and stored.

The disadvantage to combination boilers is that when there are more than two taps being used at the same time, there is a noticeable difference in the flow rate of the hot water as the water comes directly from the mains water supply.

SYSTEM BOILERS IN ST ALBANS

This boiler only acts as a heat source, this can either be used to heat your radiators or under-floor heating or to heat the water in your hot water cylinder.

They are similar to conventional boilers, with the difference being that they contain other components, such as a central heating pump, pressure relief valve, and expansion vessel.

System boilers, similar to combination boilers, are installed as part of a “sealed” system, meaning, if also fitted with an unvented cylinder, there are no need for any tanks in your loft.

CONVENTIONAL BOILERS IN ST ALBANS

A Conventional boiler also acts only as a heat source, as with system boilers, however, they have no additional components in them.

They are often installed in a ‘classic’ type of heating system, where there may be a cylinder, along with pumps to boost water pressure to baths and showers.

These types of boilers are best for older heating systems, where increased pressures used in a ‘sealed’ system may cause issues with leaks etc.
